Few things to be aware of.

Juniors/All Stars – Still well attended and good support from the seniors. This week it is the turn of Raj Andranaj, Ollie Lovejoy and Julian Russell. Big thanks to Jack and Henry Hebron and Billy Ince for last week.

Training – this has been poorly attended on Thursday for all sorts of reasons. The best course of action after chatting to those who were there tonight is to shift ALL senior (including juniors U14 and above) to Friday evening when the 1st XI have been having a net. There are a couple of issues with this, mainly that there will be two games of cricket going on, so if you go please be aware of this. I’m struggling to make week nights and have handed by keys to Alex Berry. As such there should be more people available to open up and run the sessions. This change will take effect from next week (16/6).

Ladies -Colchester & EE CC Ladies are back on winning form in the Women’s Cricket Southern League after a 79 run win against Brighton and Hove CC at Castle Park on Sunday. The home side were put in to bat and had a slow start, losing both openers within 10 overs.  Clare Heywood was scoring freely until a lbw decision left Colchester struggling on 52/3 after 16 overs. Kiri Samaranayake and Beth Dodd steadied the ship and started to build the innings.  Once in, they picked up the run rate and started to find the boundary.  A partnership of 200 saw Dodd bring about her first ever century in style with her first ever 6 and Samaranayake scoring 67 before being caught.  With wickets in hand, Dodd led a final push to get the home side to 262/5 off their 45, herself finishing on 130 off 103 balls. Although scoring conistantly through their innings, Brighton struggled to maintain the required run rate with accurate lines from the Colchester bowlers.  Harman and Barrs put on 75 but once Barrs was run out by an excellent throw from extra cover by Castle and Harman was caught behind for 96 off Heywood, the visitors were always swimming against the tide and finished on 183/6.The ladies travel to Ashford, Surrey for their next game on Sunday.
